iMommies Joins The ‘One Pack=One Vaccine’ Campaign!

9

The Pampers  “One Pack = One Vaccine” campaign is part of a global initiative with UNICEF to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT), a preventable disease that claims the lives of approximately 128,000 infants and 30,000 mothers in less industrialized nations each year – that’s approximately one death every four minutes.

Tetanus can be contracted during childbirth in developing countries, where women often must give birth at home in unsanitary conditions without access to adequate health care.  The disease rages through newborns within days of their exposure to the tetanus bacteria and is almost always fatal.

You can help eliminate the fatal Tetanus disease by simply purchasing Pampers diapers or wipes, or by redeeming Pampers Gifts to Grow points to purchase a campaign baby body suit.  For every specially marked package of Pampers Diapers and Wipes purchased in the U.S. and Canada, and for each baby bodysuit redeemed at Pampers Gifts to Grow (through 05/01/09), the Pampers brand will donate $.07 to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to help provide one tetanus vaccine to a pregnant woman or a woman of child-bearing age in the less-industrialized world.

To kick off iMommies’ support of this campaign, leave a comment below to win one of four Pampers baby body suits!

Funding from the “One Pack=One Vaccine” program has been essential to helping UNICEF provide much-needed tetanus vaccines to help protect moms and their newborn babies in developing nations against tetanus.

  • In the 2008 North America campaign, Pampers provided funding to UNICEF for over 50 million tetanus vaccines to help protect moms and their newborn babies against tetanus.
  • In the 2009 campaign in North America, Pampers aims to raise funds to help provide an additional 30 million vaccines.
  • Thanks to Pampers’ funding, the total global donations have helped UNICEF provide more than 100 million vaccines through August 31, 2008, and the North American goal was far exceeded.
  • The global campaign goal is to provide funding for more than 200 million life-saving tetanus vaccines over the next three years.

If you’d like a baby body suit to show your support of the “One Pack=One Vaccine” campaign, leave a comment below by midnight on Tuesday, March 24th.  Four readers will be randomly selected to receive a Pampers/UNICEF “Together we can help save a life” baby body suit (open to residents of all countries).
