Today’s Menu: Flavors Of Entanglement

After going through a tough break-up, Alanis Morissette has released her first new album in four years. (Wow - so THIS is what people do after break-ups, nowadays…)

Entitled Flavors of Entanglement, the new album features a delectable menu of savory songs - an 11-course techno-musical meal, garnished with full flavor.

I’m a country music/Christian music kind of girl, and had to start off with an appetizer of Alanis’ compilation of previous hits, before I could even look at the entrées presented in the new album! (Click HERE to sample Flavors and click HERE to sample a collection from her previous albums.) If the bite-sized versions of either album leave you hungry for more, don’t fret…the all-you-can-eat versions are available for purchase from those same links!

If you’ve gotten this far into the article, and can’t figure out if you’re reading about a new music album or a restaurant menu…I assure you, it’s both! Alanis Morissette’s new Flavors of Entanglement album offers a full musical menu, with a little something to suit every palate!

What’s your favorite “Flavor”? Take a moment to listen to a few songs from Alanis’ new Flavors of Entanglement album, then let us all know what you think. Tell us your favorite Alanis song, favorite line from an Alanis song, favorite anything-Alanis! On Saturday, June 28th, we’ll randomly select a name to win a three-course meal prize package, consisting of appetizer, entrée, and dessert (compliments of one of my favorite new marketing companies: One2One Network)!

Prize Package
Appetizer: Alanis Morissette’s The Collection CD/DVD
Entrée: Alanis Morissette’s Flavors of Entanglement CD
Dessert: Coupon for a free pint of your favorite flavor of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream!

(Whew! I’m stuffed! “Check…”)

I like the “Giggling Again For No Reason”.

  2. Theresa J, 18. June 2008, 8:25

I love Alanis Morissette! Her entire “Jagged Little Pill” CD saw me through a really horrible break up, many years ago, and I have a difficult time picking just one favorite line or song. I think it would be “Everything is just fine, fine, fine.” from “One Hand in my Pocket”.

  3. Amy, 18. June 2008, 8:32

I love Alanis. When “You Oughta Know” came out, I was just getting over a huge breakup, and it became my anthem for an entire summer. It would come on the radio and I would crank it and scream/sing along. Very cathartic.

Thanks for the chance to win!

I love love love Alanis. I’ve bought all of her albums since Jagged LIttle Pill and I’ve enjoyed listening to her change over the years. Each album she has put out has seemed to fit what has been going on at my life when it was released and I am interested in finding out if that is the case this time as well :) I’ve watched the Underneath video and I love the way it shows inside of her heart, very cool. My favorite line changes depending on my mood but one of my favorite songs is Everything…or Thank You…or Ironic… or That I Would be Good. Like I said it’s hard to pick a favorite :) Sounds like I’m going to like Citizen of the Planet a lot too. Thanks for the chance to win some awesome stuff (I own the albums not a DVD, that would be very cool :)

    Jagged Little Pill

  11. Sheri, 18. June 2008, 11:27

Thank you India (one of her older tunes) speaks volumes to me about recognizing and letting go of all of our/my baggage and taking a look at the things we think we need to sustain us in our life…like holding onto anger (how good it feels to finally forgive you) or waiting for someone else to validate us as people (How about that ever elusive kudo).

    Buddism personified~

The first and only time I saw Alanis was at Summerfest 1996 here in Milw. Friends and I stayed up all night in line to get a “free lawn seats” stamp to get into the show…we did…and when I saw her do “Your House” (from Jagged Little Pill) I cried…it was breath taking, raw, and beautiful.

    The song…a capella-

I haven’t listened to any of the Entanglement snippets yet, but I’m certain my all-time favorite Alanis song will remain ‘That Particular Time’ off the Under Rug Swept album. The lyrics perfectly describe so many past relationships, especially one I was in when that album came out.

  16. Arlecchina, 18. June 2008, 12:37

“Thank You India,” for me, too. That song meant a lot to me when I was younger. Thanks for the neat giveaway :-)

  17. Donna Dodgens, 18. June 2008, 12:50

    My favorite is “Uninvited”.

  18. Janine Malone, 18. June 2008, 13:09

I like “Not as We”. It’s a cool song with a slower beat. Janine

I still know all the words to “Ironic” and “you oughta Know”

  20. Cindi, 18. June 2008, 17:06

Hello, What a fabulously fun contest. I have always liked her song “Ironic!” I think it shows the rather sad aspect of life, but that also it can be happy! I love the “Oatmeal Chunk” Ben and
Jerry’s ice cream flavor. Please enter me in your delightful contest. Many thanks, Cindi

  21. Ginny, 18. June 2008, 17:27

  22. kerri, 18. June 2008, 17:56

  23. Kari, 18. June 2008, 22:07

Whenever I think about Alanis it takes me back to my middle school days. Jagged Little Pill was the first CD I ever bought and I listened to it over and over again. At slumber parties my girlfriends and I would blast the CD and sing and dance around to it. We were repeating the lyrics before we really even understand what “Would she go down on you in a theater” really meant.

  24. Julie, 18. June 2008, 22:24

I remember the first time I heard about Alanis. I was a freshman at a little uber-conservative college back in 1996 not too long after Jagged Little Pill came out. When I went home for Christmas break it seemed EVERYONE kept saying I looked like her…and I didn’t even know who she was!! Needless to say, I quickly found out and “Ironic” has been a fave ever since. The next year I transferred to a less conservative school and my nickname that some of my classmates and friends would yell out to me across the campus green was “Alanis”!!
I’d love to win this, cause I’m always interested to hear what new songs my “twin” has come out with!!

  25. Patricia Robertson, 18. June 2008, 22:52

You Oughta Know says it all!!

    I love contests.

  27. Barbara (WV), 19. June 2008, 12:38

Gosh! I love Alanis Morissette…it is so hard to choose a ‘favorite’! I’d have to say on the new album, that my favorite is ‘underneath’ (so far LOL)
But, I do love love love You Oughta know :)
I just saw her video a day or so ago,and I was like woah wehere had she been? So glad she is back! She is just as awesome,as ever (did I just say awesome? lol)!!!

  31. Bebemiqui, 19. June 2008, 15:44

I loved the bit of “Tapes” that I heard. Best random fact about Alanis is that she dated Dave Coolie from “Full House”.

  32. Elizabeth M., 19. June 2008, 17:47

I liked “Citizen of the Planet” the most of the clips from her new album. It has the most rock feeling to it of all the songs. Alanis has one of the most distinctive voices out there. She’s very, very talented!

  33. Rachel, 19. June 2008, 18:51

Alanis brings me back to college days. I haven’t heard about her in years as I am know a Christian /Country mom. New CD sounds fun though, and I am up for reliving college days thoughts, I wasn’t that bad:)

  34. Susan, 20. June 2008, 3:20

“I declare a moratorium on things relationship
I declare a respite from the toils of liaison
I do need a breather from the flavors of entanglement
I declare a full time out from all things commitment”

From Moratorium….I think this is the best yet since Jagged Little Pill. I’ve been listening to it for quite a few days now. I am a member of One2One Network and I am proud to be able to recommend this album with all the joy for the women of the world.

Not since I drove from Texas back to Michigan with only Jagged Little Pill in my player has a record spoken to me again. Go buy it, and listen, and tell your girlfriends they’ll love it!

  44. tangie c, 21. June 2008, 13:07

I haven’t heard about Alanis in a long time! I was a huge fan and one of my all time favorite songs is “Ironic”. I also love the way that Alanis is herself and doesn’t seem to care what others might say or think. She is not only a strong woman but a talented singer as well. Her music helped me rock out through a divorce!!!
