Happy Baby Zoobie Day To Yoobie!

So today is my big birthday…29 years ago ;) , my parents drove to the hospital, signed the adoption certificate and took me home. So I thought, “what better way to celebrate today than with a Baby Zoobie Weekend Adoption Event?”. You all remember Mashaka and Rhaxma…well, now they have a brand new baby cousin who needs a home.

Meet Baby Ellema Zoobie…

A few things you should know about Baby Ellema before completing the application:

1.) He’s an elephant! (He’s much smaller than most elephants, however, and will stay this baby size forever!)
2.) He doesn’t eat anything, but can carry his own soft fur blanket in his tummy, along with other small toys that your little one may choose to tote.
3.) The blanket he comes with is perfectly sized for your baby at 23″ X 29.5″, and may be used detached from Ellema, or securely attached with a zipper.
4.) When laid flat, Ellema is a soft, perfectly sized pillow for your little one’s head!
5.) He comes with his very own Baby Zoobie collar (a little something to remind him of his Zoobie family heritage).

Baby Ellema Zoobie would love to find a home where he, too, may enjoy a wonderful life with a baby who will take him everywhere (he can even fit in the diaper bag or hang onto the stroller)! The adoption application process is very simple: just leave a comment below indicating your interest in adopting Ellema, and at the end of this big birthday weekend (Tuesday, September 30th), he’ll pick a new family from the list of those who submitted comments/applications!

  6. Julia, 26. September 2008, 10:18

  7. Linda Demro, 26. September 2008, 10:18

    What a sweet story. He comes with a piece of his heritage to a new home. My grandson would love and take good care of him, but he really should go to another child that has been adopted. You really can’t know what it is like unless you experience it first hand. This is a wonderful way for you to celebrate your adoption.

  8. Tiffanie, 26. September 2008, 10:20

  9. Monica, 26. September 2008, 10:22

    He is just so sweet, cute and cuddly and would make a most welcome addition to our family. My youngest son who is 4 would be a most devoted playmate to Ellema.

  11. Rhonda Sawtelle, 26. September 2008, 10:23

    Baby Ellema Zoobie, what a cutie you are! My niece, Joyanna, who just turned 3, was adopted from China in Feb 2007. I know that she’d really like to adopt you! She knows the importance of having someone to love and hold you. Joyanna could use someone to love and hold, since her “new” Mommy is battling cancer. Even though Joyanna is enjoying her new home and settling in to learning a new language, it’s hard when her Mommy has to spend time in the hospital. Baby Ellema, if you get to come live with Joyanna, I know that she will give you many hugs and kisses!

  13. kim, 26. September 2008, 10:24

    Congrats Jen!

    Yes, I would very much like to adopt baby Ellema. My daughter just turned 6 months old 2 ays ago, and I think she will make a wonderful friend for the elephant, and I think that the toy & blanket are adorable!!!

  14. Meghan, 26. September 2008, 10:24

    I would love to adopt him & have my little guy raise him & love him forever.

  15. Karen, 26. September 2008, 10:27

    8 yr old has a special doll. She still takes her everywhere we go. Her name is purple and she has never missed a event. Her younger sister who is 2 does not have a special doll yet but this little guy looks so cuddly and snuggly I know my 2 yr old would love him and give him a good home just like her sister has to her special doll.

  16. Kim Gates, 26. September 2008, 10:29

    I was going to write a comment expressing a wish to adopt Baby Ellema. Many of my friends are having babies and my little boy is wanting a sibling. However, I saw that Linda, 26 posted a message at 10:04 saying her little boy is about to have open heart surgery. How can I compete with that? I think Baby Ellema would be a wonderful addition to her family. I think they need all the love and especailly the comfort Baby Ellema might provide.

  17. Emily, 26. September 2008, 10:30

    Funny, I was thinking about adopting a boy once our three girls are a little older. Ellema would be the perfect addition, and he’d probably make my husband feel a little better since he’s the only male in a house of four girls!

  18. Terina, 26. September 2008, 10:30

    He is too adorable and we’d love to have an elephant join our zoo!

    LOL - if only this were the first time for me to turn 29!

  28. Michele, 26. September 2008, 10:58

    Hi Baby Ellema I do not have a name yet because I will be leaving my Mommies’ belly in 3 months. My Mommy has had a tough time and been sick with me lately. It is dark and lonely in here and I would love to have a friend by my side when the stork decides its time for me to be with my parents. The man that keeps poking me (he is called a dokter?) tells Mommy and Daddy that I have a fart defect and they must be careful with me when the stork comes. Please let the stork bring Baby Ellema to be my friend!

  29. Heidi, 26. September 2008, 10:58

    Oh, how adorable. And what a wonderful way to celebrate your own adoption - by encouraging the adoption of this little cutie! I have two children adopted from Vietnam - I know one of them would absolutely love to give Ellema a new home where he would be loved, cared for, and cherished!

  30. Chrissy, 26. September 2008, 11:02

    Mashaka the Monkey is absolutely adorable! Though, my son has a thing for elephants and zebras. He would love to adopt Baby Ellema!

  31. Chrissy, 26. September 2008, 11:04

    Happy Birthday Ellema! We would love for you to come home with us!

  33. Deb - Mom of 3 Girls, 26. September 2008, 11:14

    Ellema is adorable! We would love to adopt her for my 2-year-old. She loves elephants and keeps trying to ‘adopt’ her big sister’s stuffed one. She would take wonderful care of baby Ellema! :)

  34. Donna, 26. September 2008, 11:18

    Happy birthday! Today is my husband’s birthday as well! We have two little boys who would love to fight over caring for baby Ellema!

  35. Naomi, 26. September 2008, 11:20

    J. We don’t need to win precious little Ellema, BUT … Happy Birthday (29th … wink, wink)

  36. Helene, 26. September 2008, 11:21

    Happy Birthday! I would be happy to adopt Ellema.

  37. Nancy, 26. September 2008, 11:27

    Happy Birthday! We are anxiously awaiting our first child, our son, from Thailand! I have been looking everywhere for the most precious elephant to bring to him as a symbol of his culture. We would love to adopt little Ellema for our little man to love and snuggle on the long journey to the States and when he gets home! Reading all of these posts though, Ellema is going to be smothered in love no matter where he lives and that is the most important thing!

  38. Amanda Means, 26. September 2008, 11:29

    Happy Happy Birthday!! !I would love to adopt Ellema for lil girl. She just turned one and would love Ellema. I can’t think of anything better than her own blanket and pillow for sleeping along with an elephant to love on…

  39. Marissa H, 26. September 2008, 11:33

    We would love to adopt Ellema. My new nephew that is due any day now would love him, if I can get him past my own two boys!! He would be very well taken care of and loved unconditionally. Please pick us!!!

  40. Purvee Patel, 26. September 2008, 11:35

    Hi there cutie. My son is 17 months old and i was actually looking for something for a “lovely” for him to love and cherish and take everywhere he goes. What can be better then adopting you! I can foresee many happy memories being formed. Please join our family.

  41. heather h, 26. September 2008, 11:51

    Happy Birthday! We would love to adopt Baby Ellema Zoobie!

  43. Dawn, 26. September 2008, 12:05

    Happy Birthday! My family would love to adopt Ellema and give him a wonderful home full of hugs. Although he does not require food, I’m sure he will be brought to the dinner table at least once a day for a healthy meal. He will also go on bike rides, the swing set, play in the leaves and play in the sandbox. At the end of the long and busy days, he will get his bath and be tucked sweetly into bed with a sweet little boy.

  44. Asheigh G., 26. September 2008, 12:06

    Hello handsome! You look so cuddly and cute! My 6 month old niece Riley, whose Dad is about to be deployed, would love you! She will need someone to cuddle with, absorb her tears, and take all of those hugs that are meant for her Daddy. There will be hard and lonely times ahead, but with a soft, strong elephant like you around, maybe you can help her shoulder the pain and bring her some comfort! I hope that you will be joining our family soon and if not, I am sure that you will be a blessing to anyone who is lucky enough to adopt you! :)

  45. Terri Fisher, 26. September 2008, 12:12

    Happy Birthday! Adoption is near and dear to our hearts…thanks for sharing that part of your life with us! Our family would love to adopt Ellema and give him a warm and snuggly home, full of hugs and kisses. He would fit right in with our four boys, and would be especially loved by our youngest, who is about to celebrate his first birthday! Ellema would make an extra special first birthday gift for our little guy!

  46. AmyL, 26. September 2008, 12:18

  49. L.F., 26. September 2008, 12:49

    Happy birthday! Our youngest just celebrated her big O-N-E last week. Her new fascination is pulling herself up onto our laundry basket & dragging around our dirty shirts. Maybe, Ellema could be her new snuggly-lol. :-)

  50. Julie, 26. September 2008, 12:49

    I would love for Ellma to become a good luck charm for my nephew. He is in the process of being adopted by my sister right now. He was born just about 3 months ago and is a complete doll :) We give him all of the love we have, welcome him into our family and hearts but we need a bit of luck to make sure all of the paperwork goes smoothly. I know my sister would provide a safe, loving home for her little guy , maybe Ellma would bring in that added luck that is needed :)

    BTW Happy Birthday!!

  51. Renee, 26. September 2008, 12:52

    So cute! My little guy would love him.

  52. Cher, 26. September 2008, 13:01

    Happy Day! My 20 month old loves elephants and the color blue so he would love Ellema! Then hopefully he would pass Ellema down to his 3 month old brother!

  53. sherill mascia, 26. September 2008, 13:53

    My 9 month old son would love to take care of you and give you lots of hugs and kisses Ellema! Happy Birthday!

  54. Emily, 26. September 2008, 14:08

    Happy Birthday! My 12 month old son would love to adopt Ellema. He loves to hug soft and furry things and he’ll definitely love Ellema. Please consider our family for his adoption.

  55. Jessica, 26. September 2008, 14:08

    Happy Birthday!!!

    We would love to adopt Ellema. My almost two year old little daughter would love him. He would be perfect for her, because she just loves soft blankies and stuffies. She loves to cuddle with soft things , while sucking her two middle fingers. Ellema would help her out of a dilemma, cause her mommy won’t ever let her take both stuffies & blanket when leaving the house. I’m sure Ellema would be her constant companion. We would all ( we’re a family of 7) make sure that he was well taken care of and we’ll send pictures to proof it. Jamie needs you as much as you need her, if not more so pick her.

  56. Kim M, 26. September 2008, 14:12

    We have family friends who are fostering a beautiful baby who will turn 1 in 1 month. This would make a perect first birthday gift and would be thouroughly loved by this little angel. If Ellema Zoobie came to foster with me for a while he would be adopted by this little one in a short time.

  57. Esperanza, 26. September 2008, 14:34

    Happy Birthday!! My little brother is also adopted. He’s turning 7 in a month and we’re so grateful he has come into our lives. Adoption is such a wonderful gift the world has bestowed on us. Family members have bonded with their unborn child even before they have come to this earth and God finds ways to make sure that child belongs in his/her right family.

    My little brother is a wonderful kid. He’s bilingual in Spanish and English and is an extemely good uncle to my baby. He has another nephew/niece on the way and deserves a little recognition for all the great things he does as a 6yr old uncle!

    If we adopt this Zoobie, I will give it to my little brother so he may share with his nephews/nephew and niece. He loves sharing his toys and making the baby laugh!

  58. Elizabeh, 26. September 2008, 14:52

    My daughter is adopted, too, and would love to have this elephant.

  59. Sadia, 26. September 2008, 14:56

    Happy Birthday :) I would love to be able to adopt this elephant for my two nephews. About a month ago, my father passed away, and both of my nephews were so close to him. They still ask about him every day. This coming Wednesday (October 1st) is one of our two religious holidays, called Eid ul Fitr. It would be wonderful to give them something like this to hug and kiss and cuddle with whenever they miss their grandfather! My dad taught them about many animals and the sounds they make and he even got the older one a small stuffed elephant when he was born :)

    Hope your birthday is wonderful and best wishes to you :)

  60. kitty, 26. September 2008, 15:25

    What a cute baby Ellema! I would like to adopt him. Thanks

  61. Jennifer W., 26. September 2008, 15:45

    Happy Birthday Jen!

    My puppy Dexter would LOVE to adopt Ellema! He got excited looking at the picture above. He is a very good puppy and treats all of his stuffed friends as babies. I can guarantee there would be constant attention showered on Ellema. Dexter takes his babies everywhere with him, he loves to sleep snuggled up to them and is always excited when a new stuffed friend shows up at our house. He doesn’t use them as chew toys like other puppies. He can get quite lonely while mommy & daddy are at work and would love a new friend to shower all his attention on!!!

  62. Nicole, 26. September 2008, 15:52

    Happy Birthday! We have lots of love to share with a new adopted friend should we win!
    Thanks - Nicole

    Happy Birthday!!!

    This zoobie would be perfect for my friend’s baby. Finally after 3 miscarriages, the doctors were able to help her carry this baby almost (3 weeks left) to term. She is having a baby girl who I know will just love carrying around Ellema. We would love to adopt her!!!

  66. Elizabeth Thompson, 26. September 2008, 16:27

    Hi. My son is 6 months old. His name is Jacob, and he has a little blue donkey friend we call bubbles. Now Bubbles, while quite happy with Jacob, is feeling kind of lonely. We’ve tried to cheer him up, but it’s no use. He wants another friend to play with Jacob as well. We’ve tried games and adventures outside, and over to grandma’s house. But it’s just not the same. Bubbles is lonely, and sometimes when Bubbles is lonely, Jacob is too. That just wont do, and since I don’t have a vehicle, we can’t just go out and find a new friend all that easily. So you see, we would love to have Ellema come and stay with us, and play with Jacob and Bubbles. We would do our best to give him a good home, and he would have the best of friends, forever.

    Thank you! :)

  67. The Bargain Shopper Lady, 26. September 2008, 16:33

    ~~~~~~***********HAPPY 29TH*********~~~~~~~~
    I LOVE Ellema!!! He’s precious and so is my little 22 month old grandson Adam. I know Adam would love to welcome Ellema into our family and be his constant companion. Adam loves visiting the elephants at the zoo and can even say, “ElllePhant”, so he’s already got part of Ellema’s name down. I’m positive they would be inseperable. Thanks for the opportunity to make two little guys happy!!!
    Diana
  73. Jenne, 26. September 2008, 18:13
  75. Terri W, 26. September 2008, 21:05
    Adoption is a God Send for us. WE heard the news three years ago that a new born baby would love to come and make us a family. She arrived and was picked up from the hospital by us, Mommy and Daddy when she was just barely 24 hours young. Funny thing about Ellema is that our little angel LOVES elephants!. She has an elephant, about oh, five times the size of Ellema. She would be in Aww, if she was given the gift of taking care of Ellema. It is our hope one day that she knows the wonderful person’/s, bioligical parents who decided to allow us to take care of her.
  76. kelly-jo, 26. September 2008, 21:16
    Ellema-that is such a cute name-my sons favorite color is blue and his favorite animal is an elephant too! We would love to win your giveaway thank you for the chance!
  91. Eva, 27. September 2008, 11:58
    I would also love to have Baby Ellema join our family as my 2-year-old preemie would adore him as he has to have a lovie to sleep with at night, but I also have to say after reading Linda’s comment (Linda, 26, September 2008, 10:04) about her son undergoing open heart surgery I feel deep in my heart that her little boy would truly be deserving of this little elephant, Baby Ellema, as he will need someone to hold and love after such an event. GOOD LUCK TO YOU LINDA AND YOU SWEET BABY BOY. MY VOTE GOES TO YOU.
    Thank You,
    Eva M. - Mom to 31-week preemie, Loki, and Free, 16 years
    What an adorable baby Elephant! I am due in January with our fourth baby, and this would be perfect to keep in the diaper bag. As long as my 18 month old doesn’t swipe it first! :)
    Happy Birthday to you! I like how you wrote this post!
    Thanks for the chance to win!
  94. Lydia Cano, 27. September 2008, 12:49
    Ellema would be a perfect addition to my granddaughter’s arms. My little Mariah would hug,kiss and squeeze little Ellema and give him all the love that a baby could possibly give. Little Mariah would always make him feel wanted,give Ellema unconditional love and never stop giving him hugs and kisses. In return I am sure that Ellema would be there to make Mariah’s smile even wider. Please come and share in our love and joy!
    Pretty little Ellema I would love it if you would come and live with me and you could be my very own. I have big sisters who have their very own real pets but Mommy says I am too little and since my Daddy died she doesn’t want any more pets. I would love you so much and take you everywhere. You are very special and I would take extra special care of you. My sister typed this for me cuz I can’t spell (or type). I love you. My name is Marissa.
    This is my mommy’s name.
    Happy B/day, Jennifer. I’m sure my 2 1/2 y o doberman Dillon would love to adopt Ellema, the elephant, as he was adopted last year…..but he’d like the little elephant to go to some 2 legged child who really needs a special companion!!
    I want to express my sincere thoughts and prayers to the little guy who is going in for openheart surgery(Linda, 26. September 2008, 10:04) . I agree with Kim ( Kim Gates, 26. September 2008, 10:29 ) - I also think that Ellema would make a wonderful companion for all he will endure during this delicate procedure. He will need Ellema to bring him comfort and companionship. God bless this little boy and his family.
    P.S. Happy Birthday to you, Jennifer!
  109. Go Amie, 28. September 2008, 10:44
  116. Paige, 29. September 2008, 10:03
    We have had our application in for elephant adoption for quite a long time, but there just don’t seem to be that many available! We have a loving home with many kids, lots of arms for hugging, and lots or elephant treats. Please consider our family!
  117. chava, 29. September 2008, 11:42
    I would LOVE to adopt Ellema. He is so cute and cuddly. I’ve collected elephant pictures, figurines since I was 2 - my grandmother and Aunt would always bring them back from their travels so Ellema would be able to see his kind all over the house.
  118. Kyle, 29. September 2008, 11:56
    Wow! There are so many deserving families to choose from. You’re going to have a tough time deciding.
    I’m going to throw my name in the hat too, just for fun. I have two children of my own, but Ellema would not be going to them. My husband and I have recently completed our foster care training. We are expecting to be called any day now for some kids. (We were already called a couple weeks ago just before we were complete, to take a 2- and 3-year-old. We were lacking CPR then, so could not be considered.) I would love to present Ellema to a child that comes in to our home.
    Thanks for the chance to win!
  119. Kvran, 29. September 2008, 11:59
  120. jackie, 29. September 2008, 14:27
    My little 2yr old boy is longing for a friend like Ellema at home! My boy is a snuggler and likes to read stories with his friends and if Ellema is okay with that, we would love to adopt him! It sounds like so many others could use his companionship though. Thanks!
  121. Richael Durdin, 29. September 2008, 17:13
    How Cute! I just know he would love to live at our home, we have 3 little sets of hands that would love to take care of him.
  122. LISA, 29. September 2008, 17:27
    WELL HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BOTH OF YOU! I AM “IN THE PROCESS” OF MAKING BABY #2 AND WE ARE ALSO IN THE PROCESS OF ADOPTING # 3. SINCE THE ADOPTION PROCESS CAN BE A MINIMUM OF A YEAR’S PROCESS….WE HAVE STARTED NOW, THIS WAY BY THE TIME THE SECOND CHILD IS BORN, WE WILL KNOW THE SEXUAL PREFERENCE OF OUR 3RD CHILD. (MY HUSBAND DOESN’T WANT TO BE THE ONLY MAN IN THE HOUSE!! ) SO IF OUR SECOND CHILD IS A GIRL…THEN A BOY WE WILL ADOPT…IF THE 2ND CHILD IS A BOY…THEN THE SEXUAL PREFERENCE DOESN’T MATTER!! ELLEMA WOULD BE SO LOVED IN OUR HOME BY OUR CURRENT ONLY CHILD….SHE WOULD START GETTING THE FEEL OF HAVING ANOTHER TO LOVE AND LEARN THE MEANING OF ADOPTION AS WELL.
    GOD BLESS THOSE WHO SUPPORT AND HONOR THE ADOPTION PROGRAMS!!
    TAKE CARE! LISA
    P.S. MY BIRTHDAY IS ON OCTOBER 6TH AS WELL…SIMILIAR TO ANOTHER READER!!
  123. Eve, 29. September 2008, 19:24
    No one could love you, Ellema, like my Andrew could! You would have a nice, comfy bed to sleep on and so much love. If you don’t pick us, I hope you are well-loved with another family and we’ll have to look into adopting one of your friends Think about it….
  124. Jill Bishop, 29. September 2008, 20:15
    SOOOOOOO CUTE!!!! My little 7 month old baby girl would LOVE to snuggle up to Ellema!!!
  125. Amanda, 30. September 2008, 9:00
    Greetings Ellema! It’s my birthday too! There is a little girl growing in my tummy who almost had a too early birthday this weekend too! Maybe she was just trying to meet you! The Doctor told her she needed to grow some more so she has to wait a few more weeks! She’s had a rough time of it and I know would love to have someone to hold and love when she first meets the world. You would be one of our own. Take Care, Ellema, wherever your path leads you.
  126. Kay, 30. September 2008, 10:09
