Being a stay at home mom (SAHM) is something that many moms can only dream about. The reality is that it’s not always possible to stay home with the kids or to work from home, so those who can generally consider themselves to be the lucky ones. However, that’s not to say that a day with the kids can’t be exhausting every now and then, especially if you don’t allow any time for yourself throughout the day.
“Time for me? What’s this, an impossible dream?” you might be thinking. But even if you don’t get much time for yourself, just a few five minute breaks throughout the day can do you (and your kids) a power of good. If you slog on throughout the day without taking a break, you’re liable to become less and less patient as the day goes on, and by bath and bedtime, you might just be counting down to have some peace and quiet after lights out.
But if you take a couple of short breaks where you just relax for a few minutes, you’ll get a real energy boost and be able to carry on being a great mom throughout the day. So, how to take these breaks and what to do in them?
Your child doesn’t need your complete focus 100% of the time. Kids like downtime too, whether it’s a proper nap in their bed after lunch, or just sitting on the sofa watching their favourite TV programme. The trick is to use those times for you, rather than filling them with chores you can’t do with the kids around.
What you do is entirely up to you, of course, but here are a few ideas of quick and easy ways to take five.
Play some games – there are thousands of different games you can play on the internet. Click here for slot games online and you’ll discover more than 300 different slots at 32Red. Slots are easy to play and you can play for a couple of minutes or hours on end, depending what amount of time you have available. What’s more, the wins are completely random, so you may end up bagging a profit while you’re having a break!
Pamper yourself. You don’t need to go down to the beauty parlour to feel pampered. Sitting down to give yourself a mini manicure or pedicure in the middle of the day is a great way to get some relaxation. Just allow that polish time to dry before you have to do something for the kids!
Close your eyes. You may not have time for a nap, but while the kids are napping or watching TV, you could lie down in a darkened room and close your eyes. While you’re there, focus only on your breathing and you’ll notice as you focus that your breaths get deeper and longer as you relax. After only five minutes, you can feel really refreshed from doing this.
Whatever you do to take five, you’ll start to feel the benefits of doing so immediately, so give it a try as soon as you can!
