Precisely why I LOVE CVS!
I just made a CVS run and bought these items (except the pot of gold–my CVS didn’t carry it), but no ECBs printed
Any ideas??
The sale doesn’t start until tomorrow Kacy. Darn it!
Kacy, the deals don’t start until tomorrow, Sunday, the 16th
What is an ECB?
Whoops! Guess I read it a little too fast! I’ll return my stuff and re-buy tomorrow. Thanks ladies!
ECBs = Extra Care Bucks
ECBs are printed at the end of your receipts and are accepted like cash at CVS. For example, if you received a $15 ECB after a transaction purchase, you could use that $15 ECB to purchase $15 worth of merchandise at CVS (for nothing out of pocket). The nice thing about CVS is that they usually have such great coupons, that $15 in ECB, combined with coupons, can be used to purchase much more than $15 in merchandise.
As another example, if you purchased $75 of merchandise, and your store allowed multiple CVS coupons, you could do the following:
1.) Use a $15 off $75 Purchase coupon
2.) Use a $10 off $50 Purchase coupon
3.) Use a $5 off $30 Purchase coupon
4.) Use a $5 off $25 Purchase coupon
5.) Use a $4 off $20 Purchase coupon
6.) Use a $3 off $15 Purchase coupon
7.) Use a $2 off $10 Purchase coupon
8.) Use your $15 ECB
…and after ALL of that…pay just $16 (+ tax) out of pocket!
A couple of additional notes:
* Not all CVS stores allow multiple $ off $$ coupons (known as stacking), but each store sets their own policy (as opposed to one corporate policy that applies to all).
* The coupons I mentioned above are frequently available online (without printing limits), and sometimes print at the bottom of your transaction receipts, as well.
* You can purchase items (within that $75 transaction above) that give back free ECBs…which you could then use on future purchases, combined with coupons to spend nothing out of pocket.
* CVS publishes weekly and monthly ECB deals (items that give back ECBs with a purchase). These ECB deals can be found online and in weekly ads. Sometimes, you’ll purchase items that weren’t advertised as ECB deals in either location, yet receive ECBs for those items anyway…not all ECB deals are advertised, so those unadvertised items are just extra surprises on your receipt.
* In addition to the weekly and monthly ECB deals, you’ll also earn 2% of your quarterly purchase prices in ECBs that print on your receipt at the end of each quarter.
Whew! I think that covers the basics!
