Freebie List 03/02/08: CVS Freebies With ECBs

Used in combination with the $5 off $15 CVS coupon posted yesterday, these will actually be better than free.  ExtraCare Bucks (or ECBs) print at the end of your receipt, and are the equivalent to cash…use them at CVS to purchase anything in their stores, with the obvious exceptions of gift cards, money orders, stamps, lottery tickets, prepaid phone cards, alcohol, tobacco, and prescription items.

CVS Pharmacy Stores

The following CVS items do require that you purchase the items first, though you may pay with ExtraCare Bucks if you have them, and you may also use the $5 off $15 coupon HERE.  After transaction completion with your ExtraCare card, you’ll receive ECBs equal to the purchase price.

    Under the Lypsyl, it gives the prices and purchase amounts of Lumene instead of the Lypsil.

    Oops - sorry, Renee! It’s corrected now (the prices are the same).
    Thanks for letting me know!

    Thanks for the link! I went to CVS twice already and plan to make a few more trips this week. It’s worth breaking up your trips into $15 orders so you can make the most of the $5/$15 coupon.

    I’ve been to CVS twice intending to pick up the Lypsyl Lypmoisturizer or Lypradiance. They’ve always been sold out. Anyone else have that problem. Thankfully it’s a month long deal so I can try again.

    I’ve had a little hard time with vitamin C CVS brand. Make sure the price is 2.99 and not 3.49.
    There is a slight difference which is letter E . Also another thing if you get CVS gift card and you are using it with your ECB make sure you use your ECB’s first than the gift card at the end. I love CVS, I can not wait until every sunday for their flyer.
    Also make sure that you read all the details carefully and when you go shopping, try as much as possible to plan ahead and not bring your kids or your husband.
    Happy shopping.

    I strongly agree with Estera. You should plan your trip well and try your very best not to bring your husband or children. They can make your shopping experience more difficult. I personally enjoy taking my time while shopping. Husbands and children are always in a hurry. They don’t seem to understand that it takes concentration to be a good bargain shopper.

    Jamie, there are several variations of deals, but the main idea is to purchase items, paying as little out of pocket as possible, and to get as many ECBs back from your purchase as possible. Here’s one scenario:

    Purchase 5 tubes Colgate Total toothpaste ($14.95 + tax)
    Purchase 1 bottle of Crest Pro Health Night Rinse ($3.49 + tax)
    Total = $18.44

    Give the cashier:
    1 - $5 off $15 coupon
    1 - $3 off $15 coupon
    1 - $9 ECB

    Pay $1.44 out of pocket, and receive $18.44 in ECBs!

    In a separate transaction, use your coupons and ECBs to purchase additional items that offer ECB rewards. For example:

    Purchase 1 Maybelline Superstay Lipcolor or Gloss ($8.99 + tax)
    Purchase 5 cans of Glade Air Freshener Spray ($4.95 + tax)
    Purchase 2 bottle of Listerine Smart Rinse for Kids ($5.98 + tax)
    Total = $19.92

    Give the cashier:
    1 - $5 off $15 coupon
    1 - $3 off $15 coupon
    2 - $1 off Listerine coupons (http://www.listerinekids.com/smart-rinse-coupon.jsp)
    3 - $1 off Glade coupons (http://www.glade.com/coupon/Feb-PFE/)
    1 - $3.49 ECB (from previous transaction)
    1 - $2.99 ECB (from previous transaction)

    Pay $0.44 out of pocket and receive $19.92 in ECBs!

    If you did both transactions above, you would have spent $1.88 out of pocket for all of the items in both transactions, and would walk away with $31.88 in ECBs! YEA (I love CVS)!
