A Busybody’s Practical Guide To Baking Soda & Giveaways

No, I’m not giving away baking soda!  I was checking out the Sisterly Savings site today (okay, I was really being a busybody and looking for more information on Jennifer’s BusyBodyBook giveaway - more on that later!), and found a list of uses for a very inexpensive product…baking soda!

Arm & Hammer Baking Soda

I was familiar with…ONE of them!  Here’s the full list from her site:

1.) Clean fruits and veggies by sprinkling it on and then rinsing it off
2.) Use it to freshen the cat’s litter box daily
3.) Mix with Dawn dish soap to make a paste which can be used to clean range hoods
4.) Add 1/2 cup to each load of laundry to aid in clean rinsing and overall freshening
5.) Sprinkle on carpets for maximum deodorizing, without using expensive powders like Carpet Fresh
6.) Sprinkle on blackened grates of BBQ grills, wait a few minutes and then scrub clean.
7.) Pour 1/2 cup into bath water to soften, smooth, and relieve dry itchy “winter” skin
8.) Add to a bowl of water, and microwave for two minutes with kitchen sponges to disinfect and kill bacteria

Wow!  See…sometimes being a busybody pays off!  (There’s even a book, titled “Baking Soda: Over 500 Fabulous, Fun and Frugal Uses You’ve Probably Never Thought Of“…with over half a million copies sold!  I live under a rock, what can I say?)

Back to my busybody activity…SisterlySavings is also giving away a free BusyBodyBook.  This book is jam-packed with clever tips for stopping the busybodies in your family!  No, I’m kidding!  It’s actually a personal and family grid organizer, recommended by Parenting Magazine, and similar to the Mom’s Plan-It concept…though less ‘cartoony’ (anybody else have a Mom’s Plan-It magnetic refrigerator calendar?!).

Thank you for sharing. That would be a great book to win! It would be much better than using pieces of paper, which are everywhere, for things that we’ll need for the baby & for the house. LOL

I homeschool three kids, and am pregnant with our fourth. I would loooove to have something to keep our activities more organized. Thanks for having this contest!
