Back To School MONEY 2008: It Pays To Have Friends
I know the title of this post sounds tacky, but I’m not implying that you hit your friends up for cash to pay for school supplies. You know I would never do that, but I am implying that you hit your friends up for cash…to pay for anything! (Those who know me are now gasping in disbelief.
) I can explain this crazy logic in one mathematical sentence:
6dgr + I[(XU(4) + XUU(3) + XUUU(2)) + %(XU$ + XUU$ + XUUU$)]=$$$$$$$³
That was actually a little more difficult than I had predicted, so I’ll show my work to make sure I wrote the equation correctly! We’ll break it down by each segment…
1.) The first part of the equation is 6dgr. 6dgr is a free online networking site - very similar to Myspace, with one exception: they promote financial responsibility (via free money and a WaMu checking account and debit card).
2.) The second part of the equation is I…meaning me, but when you say it, it’s you
. Everything following the I is grouped in parenthesis and so must all be multiplied by I, and then added to 6dgr.
3.) Within the first set of main parenthesis inside the brackets:
- XU(4) = $4 for each person who registers as your friend (you’re the I, each of your friends is a U, and X is the total number of friends you refer). How can 6dgr afford to pay you $4 for each of your friends? Through partnerships with banks (such as Washington Mutual), and advertiser/affiliate revenues.
- XUU(3) = $3 for each person who registers as a friend of one of your friends.
- XUUU(2) = $2 for each person who registers as a friend of one of your friend’s friends.
4.) Everything within the second set of main parenthesis inside the brackets must be multiplied by %. In addition to the money earned by simply referring friends, friends referring friends, and friends’ friends referring friends, 6dgr also rewards members with 50% of their profits, based on usage of the amounts earned and spent. In my opinion, if they REALLY wanted to promote financial responsibility, they would base your monthly revenues on the amount earned and SAVED, but basically, you’re spending money they paid you AND you can use it to pay for anything (including bills), so I’ll be quiet.
- XU$ = The amounts spent, from monies earned through 6dgr, by each of your referred friends.
- XUU$ = The amounts spent, from monies earned through 6dgr, by each of your friends’ friends.
- XUUU$ = The amounts spent, from monies earned through 6dgr, by each of your friends’ friends’ friends.
5.) Finally, add the amounts from each set of parenthesis to 6dgr, and the answer is $$$$$$$³. There is really no significance to the number of dollar signs (math instructors everywhere are cringing - to the nth degree), but there is great significance to the “³”. You’ll earn money from three levels of friends (it doesn’t cost them a dime), and you’ll gain all of the following:
- A network of friends with whom to get connected, and stay connected.
- A cash reward for referring friends.
- A cash reward for purchases made by referred friends.
If you currently use Myspace, Facebook, or similar sites…switch to 6dgr, refer all of your friends, and reap the financial rewards of networking. For those of you with lengthy friend lists, imagine if you were the first in your group of friends to switch over…
Ready to get started? Click HERE to register and 6dgr will guide you through the entire process. If you have a WaMu checking account, you can simply link your existing account (a WaMu account is required in order to receive payment). If you don’t already have an existing account OR if you’re leary of linking an existing account, simply sign up for a new WaMu checking account THROUGH 6dgr, transfer $1 to that new account, and gain fee-free access to direct deposits and a debit card from 6dgr.

Does this actually work or is it a scam??? Specifically, has it worked for you?
Hi, Amoreena - it does work, it’s not a scam, and specifically, it has worked for me. The WaMu checking account is free and you’ll receive your debit card within a week or so of opening your account.
Networking sites are moving into a trend that rewards members, but 6dgr is one with no requirements for the number of times you have to log in per month, etc.
OK..I am going to try it and see. I am always up for testing sites that I can make money on.
People have been writing me asking about this, and I haven’t had a specific answer yet, so I guess it is time for me to jump in.
Have you actually gotten your first deposit from them into your WAMU account?
Thanks for the insight,
Carrie
Anyone else receive a Feedburner email for this article twice (one week apart)?
I got it twice.
Hi there,
Thanks for this tip! I signed up for this yesterday and sent out a few messages to my friends and family (although the bulk will go out once my husband gets his account set up as my referral…maximize those earnings, right?
. Couldn’t hurt to get a little extra cash every now and again for doing what I already do online.
Just wanted to give a heads up…you say towards the end of the post, “If you don’t already have an existing account OR if you’re leary of linking an existing account, simply sign up for a new WaMu checking account THROUGH 6dgr, transfer $1 to that new account…”
You don’t actually have to transfer the $1 in from anywhere, right? I’m pretty sure everything I read stated that 6dgr would deposit the necessary $1 for you.
I’m also wondering how you can link an existing account? I can’t seem to find how to do that on the site. (Although I wonder if you really can? It seems the way they make their money is probably through WaMu paying them for each new account created, so they wouldn’t get any benefit from us linking in previously held accounts). I wanted to sign up with WaMu separately from 6dgr. If you sign up WaMu through 6dgr, 6dgr specifically says to make sure the box next to the savings account option is unchecked (in their .pdf instructions). But if you do sign up with WaMu for both a checking and savings account at the same time, both are free, and you get the benefit of being able to earn (currently) 3.75 APY on the savings balance. Why not maximize the 6dgr earnings as much as possible, right?
And I don’t mind paying the $2 ($1 minimum opening balance for each acct–checking and savings) in order to get that benefit!
Hope this works well for all of us!
ok, scarey! But I did follow all of the directions and now I also have a new WaMu account.
Too bad I just lost all of my contacts a week ago. Now I have to start all over;)
Thanks for the strange offer. Hope it pays off in the end.
Atleast I helped make you a dollar, right?
