10/23/07 Job Post: StudyPoint Tutors

StudyPoint, originally founded in 1999 as StudySmart, is an educational services company that provides one-to-one tutoring in students’ homes.  They currently work with over 1,000 tutors nationwide who provide individualized instruction and support in test preparation, study skills, and academic subject tutoring in many disciplines. 

StudyPoint is now hiring for the 2007-2008 academic year, and is currently recruiting part-time tutors in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey.  Tutors will receive comprehensive training and support from a central office located in White Plains, NY, 5-15 hours per week at $20-$25 per hour, assignments close to home, and flexible scheduling (afternoons, evenings, and weekends).

Successful candidates will include certified teachers, professors, and graduate students who are committed to making a difference in the lives of high school students.  Preferred experience includes tutoring high school level math, science and the SATs (Verbal and Math).

Requirements:
BA/BS with a minimum GPA of 3.0, at least 2 years teaching/tutoring experience, and reliable transportation are required.  Tutors interested in teaching their standardized test prep programs must also have a minimum SAT score of 1300 (650/650) and/or a minimum ACT score of 28.  A teaching certificate is a plus but not required.  Tutors must be willing to travel within a small radius from their home and commit to working with 2 students (or more) per week in 90-minute sessions throughout the academic year.
