URGENT Message
Well, now that I have your attention with that URGENT line…hmm…so many things I could say! Unfortunately, I get all nervous with public speaking…
And now you’re all watching me stammer…
Wondering what it is I have to say…
I’m turning all shades of red…
(Oh, just spit it out, for crying out loud!)
They say you only have a couple of lines to grab your audience, but keep on reading – it can only get better, right?
Okay, here goes! I don’t think I’ve ever made a “public” plea (and if I have, I’ve either forgotten about it or I’m pretending that it didn’t count). Today is September 26th…which happens to be my birthday, but that’s just a random fact I threw out for recognition, and it has nothing to do with this post. As I was saying…*Ahem*…Today is September 26th, and our very awesome iMommies friend, and my personal “kindred spirit”, Cheryl Lynn Moore, has made it to the last round of TheNetstar vocal contest. This week is “The Top 5″, and on Monday night (September 28th at 11pm CST), the voting period will end, and the contestant with the most votes will win a one-year recording contract with TheNetStar (among other awesome opportunities).
So here’s the thing – I can’t say that TheNetStar is “in the stars” for Cheryl Lynn, because…well, I’m not God, and only He knows that! But I DO believe that, no matter what, you give your all – you put forth every amount of humanly effort possible, and let God control the outcome. So that’s what I’m doing here (although it may not seem like much effort on my part given all of the rambling!), and that’s what Cheryl Lynn has done throughout this competition…the effort part, not the rambling. She’s genuinely compassionate, sincerely devoted to God and family, seriously talented (singer AND songwriter)…and I just love her to pieces! (Yes, I’m biased…but win or lose, WHO SHE IS will be her legacy. You’ll have to hear her latest song to get that reference!)
Alrighty, here goes with my first “public plea” (and, Lord, may it by my last, as this is so obviously not my area of talent!): Please go check out the Country/Contemporary Christian vocal competition at TheNetStar.com…and CAST A VOTE!

By the way, I won’t tell you how old I am, but here are 35 helpful tips for surviving the voting weekend (and I’m thankful, for more reasons than one, that it’s only a list of 35):
- If you’re feeling bored…listen to a few songs, then cast a vote!
- If you can’t remember your weekend plans…make new plans – to vote!
- If you’re busy and don’t know which task to tackle first…start with a vote!
- If you’re hungry and need a snack…you’ll burn more calories if you vote and eat at the same time!
- If you’re tired and need a nap…vote first, sleep later!
- If you’re sad and feel like crying…listen to the contestants’ songs, then cast a vote!
- If you’re angry and feel like yelling…FINE THEN, JUST VOTE WHILE YOU’RE DOING IT!
- If you’re happy and feel like laughing…grab a friend and vote together (just to clarify: that would be TWO votes)!
- If you’re feeling stressed…”Calgon, take me away” – but not before you vote!
- If you have a headache…take one vote and call me in the morning!
- If you find yourself in an emergency…call 911 and ask the dispatcher to vote!
- If you’re stuck in traffic…slap a “Follow Me” sticker on your bumper, take the nearest WiFi hotspot exit, then show your new friends how to vote!
- If you’re doing yardwork…put down the rake and vote!
- If you’re washing your car…it’s supposed to rain tomorrow – go vote!
- If you’re doing laundry…set the dryer to the Fluff cycle and go vote!
- If you’re cooking dinner…order take-out instead and cast a vote!
- If you’re cleaning the house…you did that last week and you’ll do it again next week – go vote!
- If you’re at the kids’ sporting events…give me a V-O-T-E!
- If you’re studying…look up the definition to the verb-tense of “Vote“!
- If you’re shopping…pick up the in-store intercom and tell shoppers to vote!
- If you’re blogging, tweeting, or Facebooking…send this message to your entire network: Vote!
- If it’s date night…set the mood with music from TheNetStar, and a romantic vote will spontaneously result!
- If it’s family game night…here’s a new one: “Whose Vote is it Anyway?”
- If you’re at church…invite the congregation to your house for lunch afterward (once they arrive, ask them to vote)!
- If you’re at the movies…wait for the quietest scene in the movie, then jump up and tell all patrons to vote!
- If you’re going to a party…give the honoree a new laptop with the homepage set to VOTE!
- If you’re in a meeting…Hello? It’s the weekend! Go vote!
- If you’re getting your nails done…vote first to prevent keyboard damage!
- If you’re reading a book…here’s the Cliff’s Notes version: Vote!
- If you’re fishing…Huh? Tell the fish to vote! (And by the way, Cheryl Lynn even has a song titled “Gone Fishin’“)
- If you’re hunting…I’ve heard there’s no game like a vote!
- If you’re camping…come back to civilization by 11pm on 09/28/09 and vote!

I CAN NOT even express what my heart wants to say to not only my dearest friend, Jennifer Schaefer (by the way I hope all of you read what I said about her on the netstar under my bio…cuz it it is so TRUE!!!!) but to all of you for voting for me…just because Jennifer requested it! Wow!
No seriously, I am printing and saving everyone’s comments, so I can read them and re-read them whenever I feel down about losing the NetStar contest!
Jennifer just texted me today and said, “Now that the NetStar competition is over I can move on to what God has next for me…that it must be something BIGGER & BETTER! ” Somehow, Jennifer always has the right thing to say at the right time! She may need to write a book! Don’t you think?
Not only is she one of my best friends, but she has helped me the way she has helped many of you and that is by teaching me to save money (Target, CVS, Walgreen’s, printable coupons, restaurant food promos etc.) and make money (market surveys etc.)all so I can stay home with our 3 girls. We had a surprise baby girl who is now 20 months old as well as a 15 year old and a 10 year old. With our faith in God and Jennifer’s imommies site…we have made ends meet financially. I have even been able to purchase (for $0 or very little) extravagant items like frangrance air freshners and candles all due to imommies. What a blessing Jennifer is to all of us! I am so thankful to the Lord above that I get to be a part of Jennifer’s world of friends. She (along with her entire family) is TRULY one of the most giving persons I know. She has such a busy life between all that she does which includes taking care of her family, but yet she created this web site JUST so she could help people like us make ends meet…now that is pure UNSELFISHNESS!!! She goes on and on about me being a STAR, but in reality SHE IS THE STAR!!!
By the way, I have to say a special thank you to Barbara Platt, who doesn’t know me either but posted me on every thing she could including her own blog site (in fact, she may have even had a billboard on I-35 for people to vote for me…LOL…just kidding), Twitter, Facebook, etc. to try and get votes for me. All because she knew I was friends with Jennifer Schaefer! WOW! I am touched that she would go to such trouble just for me. I was so moved by the article she posted about me on her blog page! I am going to print that out next and put it in a scrapbook of some sort and I don’t even SCRAP!

Oh, Cheryl Lynn – I should have known I’d need a box of tissues for this (or a box of tiss-yuuus)! My good qualities are merely a reflection of those around me – so if I say the right thing at the right time, it’s only because you let me speak and listen to what I’m saying. If I’m unselfish, it’s because you’re generous enough to overlook my selfish moments. And if I’m a star…well, we all know that one! It’s so incredibly easy to be your friend and I thank God every single day for you!
There is no doubt in my mind that the Lord has HUGE plans for you – much, much bigger than TheNetStar. There have been so many awesome things that resulted from that experience, that it had to have been preparation for that “something BIG” right around the corner. (And it’s like Christmas…I can’t wait to see what it is!)
I don’t know why we didn’t think of it sooner, but we should have put you on Utube. That would have brought in more votes. I kept trying to figure out a way to get your song on my blog with the story so people would listen to it, and that would have worked.
I am so sorry you didn’t win. You were the best.
God does has bigger plans for you. I pray you don’t give up singing because God needs you in His choir!
