Happy Bloomin’ Birthday! (Gift Inside!)
Our family was dining at the Outback Steakhouse last week, and discovered they were celebrating their 20th birthday! I’ll celebrate just about anything - especially if it involves a ribeye, Alice Springs Chicken, or a Bloomin’ Onion!
To celebrate their March 15th birthday, Outback Steakhouse is offering several new menu items through the end of April. Typically, I order a Bloomin’ Onion with a side salad or the Alice Springs Chicken when we visit, but since they went through all the trouble to create a special birthday menu, I decided to venture out and try the Tilapia (glad I did - VERY tasty…and a little healthier than the Bloomin’ Onion!). In addition to their regular menu, the special birthday items include:
1.) Sirloin, Shrimp and Scallops Mixed Grill: Juicy USDA “Choice” sirloin, seasoned, seared and paired with succulent grilled shrimp and scallops, all served with whole grain wild rice and sauteed spinach.
2.) Chargrilled Tuscan Rib Eye: A tender, thick rib eye seasoned with a Tuscan marinade of imported olive oil and fresh herbs and spices, then chargrilled over an open flame. Served with garlic mashed potatoes, fresh steamed veggies and a homemade olive and sun-dried tomato relish.
3.) Fresh Tilapia with Pure Lump Crab Meat: Fresh tilapia crowned with a crab stuffing, then topped with pure lump crab meat and sliced white button mushrooms, finished with a drizzle of light lemon-butter Chablis sauce. Served with fresh grilled asparagus.
4.) Slow-Roasted Sirloin Medley: Perfectly roasted slices of sirloin drizzled with fresh herbs, garlic, olive oil and lemon surrounded by grape tomatoes and asparagus, served atop sautied spinach and a jumbo, homemade Outback crouton.
All in all, I loved the party! I may not be as knowledgeable as my husband on the inner workings of a restaurant (before he got sick, he was a restaurant owner/manager), but I love eating out, and from his influence, I’ve become a very opinionated restaurant critic! Outback Steakhouse has excellent food, a unique atmosphere that blends elegance with a casual and rustic flair, and…from our experiences on each visit…very personable and efficient waitstaff.
Of course, you can’t celebrate a birthday without a gift, so…
