Visit your local participating Baskin-Robbins on Wednesday, April 29th, as they honor America’s firefighters with a $100,000 donation to the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) National Junior Firefighter Program. Purchase 31-cent small scoops and make a donation to local fire charities (at participating locations).
Thanks, Barbara!
Kathy Herrera, a mother who has suffered a loss that most of us cannot bear to imagine, has resolved to make a difference in the lives of other families, through the March of Dimes’ March for Babies.
Sweet Victor, Xavier, and Nicholas Herrera were born in November of 2005, and lived for only a few days. Determined to prevent premature births and birth defects, Kathy is joining the 2009 March for Babies Fort Worth, Texas event on April 18th. Her goal is to match the funds she raised at the 2008 event ($270).
The Pampers “One Pack = One Vaccine” campaign is part of a global initiative with UNICEF to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT), a preventable disease that claims the lives of approximately 128,000 infants and 30,000 mothers in less industrialized nations each year – that’s approximately one death every four minutes.
Tetanus can be contracted during childbirth in developing countries, where women often must give birth at home in unsanitary conditions without access to adequate health care. The disease rages through newborns within days of their exposure to the tetanus bacteria and is almost always fatal.
You can help eliminate the fatal Tetanus disease by simply purchasing Pampers diapers or wipes, or by redeeming Pampers Gifts to Grow points to purchase a campaign baby body suit. For every specially marked package of Pampers Diapers and Wipes purchased in the U.S. and Canada, and for each baby bodysuit redeemed at Pampers Gifts to Grow (through 05/01/09), the Pampers brand will donate $.07 to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to help provide one tetanus vaccine to a pregnant woman or a woman of child-bearing age in the less-industrialized world.
To kick off iMommies’ support of this campaign, leave a comment below to win one of four Pampers baby body suits!
Don’t forget to stop by IHOP tomorrow morning for free pancakes!
Is it that time of year already? It seems like just yesterday that I wrote this same post for 2008? At any rate, mark your calendars! IHOP is giving away free shortstacks between 7am and 10pm on Tuesday, February 24th, in an effort to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. Though a donation is not required to participate in National Pancake Day, this is a great way to give AND receive at the same time!
Thanks for the heads up, Melissa!
Thanks to Bekah for passing along this info from the Environmental Defense Fund. The EDF works to “fight global warming, protect endangered species, restore our oceans, clean up toxic pollution and promote tough clean air and water health and safety standards.” In an attempt to improve actions concerning environmental policy, the EDF has drafted a letter to both of the Presidential candidates requesting several actions to be taken during the first 100 days in office. In exchange for signing that letter, the EDF will send you a free gift of your choice: a travel mug, umbrella, or reusable shopping bag (you can also sign the letter without requesting a gift).
If you haven’t had a chance to purchase a Cold Stone Creamery wall star for the Make-A-Wish Foundation yet, don’t forget Thursday night is the 7th annual celebration of the World’s Largest Ice Cream Social. Donations are accepted (via the wall stars) for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and free ice cream creations, inspired by two Wish children, are given to all who attend!

Thanks to Chrishawna for sharing this sweet treat with even sweeter results! Throughout September, Cold Stone Creamery is selling wall stars for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and to top it off (on Thursday, September 25th, 5pm-8pm), they’re hosting the 7th Annual World’s Largest Ice Cream Social, and all guests will be given a free 3-oz. serving of ice cream flavors inspired by two children: Jack and Emily…very special members of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

This is a great time to take the kids out for ice cream and contribute to an amazing organization for children. While free ice cream will be given to all customers, this is not just a fun and free marketing campaign to promote a national creamery chain…there’s a very powerful reason behind this promotion.
Thanks to the McKids Family for passing along this timely piece…ProtectingAmerica.org is an organization that works behind the scenes to prepare for catastrophic events on several levels:
- Improve financial protection for consumers by establishing special catastrophe backstops at the state and national level to provide recovery and rebuilding funds in case of a major natural catastrophe;
- Support efforts to improve prevention and mitigation programs through stronger building codes;
- Augment homeowner education and consumer protections to make sure people are better prepared for catastrophes before they strike;
- Strengthen first responders by enhancing existing emergency response protocols;
- Improve relief, recovery and rebuilding by developing new processes to stage and deploy essential relief materials and to make sure there are adequate building materials, supplies and licensed contractors available in the aftermath of a catastrophe

While supplies last, ProtectingAmerica.org is giving away free emergency radios to individuals and/or organizations who register as public supporters.
There are more CVS freebies than in April, though most of the purchase limits are set to three, instead of the usual five. With a new coupon valid for $3 off any $15 purchase (through 06/06/2008), May is a great month for CVS shopping.

To answer a few common questions:
- It is NOT necessary to purchase the full limit in one transaction. Purchase any quantity, including one, of any item below, and receive an ExtraCare Buck equivalent to the purchase price.
- The ExtraCare Buck(s) will print at the end of your receipt and can be used like cash to pay for future purchases.
- You can check out in multiple transactions, and use the ECBs from one transaction to pay for another transaction.
- Use manufacturer coupons if you have them, to make the items below even better than free!
