Freebie List 04/16/08: Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to you…
Happy Birthday to you…
It’s not my birthday..
But how about you?

Anyone else have a family who thinks it’s hysterical to tell the restaurant waitstaff to embarrass you for your birthday…even when it’s NOT your birthday? Why is that funny? I try to be a good sport for everyone’s laughing enjoyment, but seriously - enough with the saddle at Texas Roadhouse already! I should be 102 by now, which is well past the prime for saddled sawhorses!

All kidding aside, I’m sure at least ONE of you is celebrating a birthday today! (And a VERY Happy Birthday to YOU!) The rest of us can just save this list for one of the other 364 days of the year when that statement is true! Many thanks to Irma with Stuff for Y’all, and to Barbara, for sending in this list of birthday freebies and discounts.

The list is posted below, as well as on the iMommies Forums page - click HERE to add to the list if you know of others! Thanks much, Irma!

Restaurant.com 50% Discount + Free $10 Gift Certificate

Restaurant.com generally works best for residents who frequent restaurants in larger cities, as the marketing is a little more competitive (thus more restaurants opt to offer gift certificates). In some locations with smaller populations, the restaurant selection can be a little slim (though it does change from time to time). If you don’t see a restaurant listed in your area (or don’t see one in which you’re interested), try looking up the restaurants in a city you plan to visit this summer, and save money on vacation dining! (Mother’s Day is also just around the corner - this might make an extra treat to slip inside the greeting card!)

Through Sunday, April 20th, purchase restaurant gift certificates for 50% off the regular purchase price and receive an additional $10 gift certificate. Basically, the price works out to about $5 - for $35 in restaurant gift certificates of your choice. Be sure to check the restrictions placed on the certificates before ordering, to ensure that the certificate can be used when you intend to visit.

Rainforest Cafe: $10 Off Or Free Volcano Dessert

Rainforest Cafe is one of our all-time favorite family places to eat…they have good food, an amazingly fun atmosphere, and shopping in the front. Beyond all that, I love watching the kids’ faces each time the gorillas and elephants start to roar and jump around! They don’t have an abundance of locations, but if you have one in your area, I highly recommend it as a fun, out-of-the-ordinary place to eat for families with young children.

Though the prices at Rainforest Cafe are higher than the average casual dining restaurants, their portions are huge (two people could easily eat from one entrée). We were actually just at the Grapevine, TX location a week ago, and spent $105 for our family of five, including the tips for the server and balloon artist, but we certainly could have done it for MUCH less, even without the coupon.

Unwrap The Bloomin’ Gift Already!

Crikey! This gift card is so hot, it’s about to start the barbie afire! Either that, or burn a hole in my pocket - I’ve already stopped by the birthday party twice, and it’s going on for another three weeks yet! (Self control, Jen, self control… :-P ).
