Happy RSS Awareness Day 2008!
Today is RSS Awareness Day! If you aren’t familiar with RSS (Real Simple Syndication), here’s my explanation, in a nutshell: RSS is the best method for staying on top of the latest articles published by your favorite sites, without cluttering your inbox, or waiting until the next day’s email.
When readers subscribe to an RSS feed for a specific blog or website, they’re notified immediately (via their browser’s toolbar) as soon as a new article has been published. If you aren’t notified of a new article…there isn’t one! No need to waste time with checking websites that haven’t published anything new since your last visit, and best of all…RSS is free!
Look for the RSS Subscription offer on all of your favorite sites! On iMommies, you can subscribe to new articles AND comments - simply click the appropriate RSS link under the Feeds section in the upper right corner from any page.

Thank you, Im new in blogging so wondered what RSS meant!
thank for the clear explanation!!
Hi,
I am so confused…so any help is appreciated. I see where yours is…so I applied…and it said I was subscribed.
So, I then went to all my favorite blogs, but a lot of them did not have that RSS feed button. So, I clicked on the button on my toolbar and subscribed that way.
Then, as the day went on…I kept looking at that little emblem on my toolbar, but it stayed greyed out. So, I decided to go check all my blogs…and they all had new articles.
Why are they not showing up? Am I looking in the wrong spot?
Thanks ahead of time for any assistance.
Carrie, which RSS reader are you using?
