A New York research company is looking for males and females, ages 30-60, to participate in a taste test on both July 31st and August 1st.  Those interested will receive $80 at the end of the 2nd day for their participation.  For more information on available times, call 1-800-220-1242.   (If they’re unable to take your call, leave a message and they’ll call you back.)

If you’re a resident of Tarrant County, and are available to participate in an all-day legal focus group on Saturday, August 11, apply online at www.jurytalk.com.   The focus group will take place in North Dallas from 9am to 6pm.  Lunch, parking, and $30 travel reimbursement will be provided, in addition to the $15 per hour incentive.

If you have a small business or nonprofit organization, you may benefit from the Xerox FreeColorPrinters program.  If you print between 2,000 and 4,000 pages per month and have at least one employee, you’ll very likely be eligible to receive the Phaser 8560 printer (it can be returned at any time, but after 3 years it’s yours to keep with no further obligations), along with free service and support.  In exchange, you must be willing to send in the monthly usage reports (done right from the printer) and purchase all of your ink supplies from Xerox (for the first 3 years). 

This could be a great program for many small businesses, but make sure you have all of the details first.  There are fees associated with not printing at least 2,000 pages per month, or failing to submit the monthly usage reports.  The ink prices are higher than a standard home printer, but go much further than the home printer cartridges too, so if your organization is operating on one of these low-volume printers, you should definitely look into this program.  The estimated cost of printing is $0.01 to $0.10 per page (black & white vs. color), which is definitely not a bad price.  The time savings could be advantageous as well, turning out as many as 30 color prints per minute.

If you missed the June trip, Sam’s Club is offering another one-day pass, good through August 31, 2007.  As with the previous promotion, an additional 10% service fee applies to goods purchased with this one-day pass, so make sure your savings are greater than 10% before making your final purchase.

Home Depot is my favorite home improvement store - I love their selection, prices, helpful staff, and overall welcoming atmosphere.  For some reason, Home Depot is one of those stores where you just feel like the employees are glad you’re there…is that just our local Home Depot store, or are they all like that?

At any rate, I’m anxious to see what fabulous new ideas they have for closet organization, and on Monday, August 6 from 7pm to 8pm, they’re hosting a free Do-It-Herself workshop that focuses solely on that (and giving a 10% storewide discount to everyone who attends)!

As my own little side note, you don’t have to purchase all of their showcased products to organize your closets, but you can use their ideas as a starting point.  I could probably organize that long closet under the stairs with materials that we already have in the garage, but I need a little DIRECTION!  And for the materials not on-hand…of course, I’ll visit Home Depot!   

ArkALMIGHTY offers a free website for each church to coordinate services within their congregation.  Members can post a need for assistance, and other members can view and volunteer in areas they choose.  If you don’t already have an online volunteer scheduling service in your church, you might start out with ArkALMIGHTY.  In addition to helping out members, it promotes congregational support, and allows members to develop relationships with others that they might not have known about otherwise.   

If you have a need outside of your church, within your circle of family and friends, Lotsa Helping Hands is a really helpful site for coordinating volunteer services.

For the next 3 Fridays, GM will be hosting free music concerts at their riverfront Renaissance Center.  If you’re in Michigan, or are planning a trip this summer, you can also take a free tour of Detroit’s most famous building before the concert begins (tours are scheduled every 2 hours, between 10am and 4pm, and advance registration is not required).  All music concerts begin at 8pm and are first come-first served.

Another taste test…they take place on Wednesday and Thursday next week.  Participants must be available both days - see time sessions below.  The incentive is $75 (and free lunch both days), paid in cash at the end of the second session.  At this time, they’re only looking for males between the ages of 18 and 34 - so tell your teenage boys and husbands to call 972-564-9587 if interested.

Creative Consumer Research is conducting a toy study for girls between 4 and 12 years of age.  The studies will be scheduled for Friday, July 27th or Saturday, July 28th, and will last approximately 1 hour. 

Girls between the ages of 4 and 9 will receive a toy valued at $20, and girls between the ages of 10 and 12 will receive $20 cash.   Parents will receive $10-$15, depending on the age of the child (perhaps it costs more to drive a 4 year old than it does a 12 year old?). Only 1 girl per household may participate in the study.
