Free Fax Service From FaxZero

Faxing may seem like an archaic method of file transferring (or maybe that’s just me?), but it does have it’s niche.  There are simply some scenarios in which an email won’t suffice, and for those situations, free faxing can be a really nice service to know!

Send a Fax - Free!

FaxZero allows users to “fax” (via email) up to 2 documents each day, and each document may total up to 3 pages.  You won’t be able to fax real estate contracts or legal pleadings, but keep this service in mind if you ever need to fax a couple of pages from a fax-less location.

Signature Hint:  Sometimes, faxes are requested because documents require your signature.  Just sign a piece of paper, scan it, save it as an image, and apply it to any document requiring your signature.  Save it to a location you’ll remember, and use it when you need it!

Encouragement For Kids And Healthy Bedtime Habits

Colgate has an online program that encourages kids to read and brush their teeth every night before bedtime.  Kids earn points for each item they complete from the personalized chart, and those points reward them with access to fun games and activities.

Colgate’s Healthy Bedtime Habits for Kids

Sign up now, and Colgate will send a free toothbrush for each child in your family.

All kids are different, but this is perfect for my 6-year old, as he’s incredibly motivated by rewards of free online games (and rewards of anything, really).  Honestly, there are online charts EVERYWHERE, and your household would become overwhelmed if you attempted to use even 10% of them.  I’ll leave it to you to determine which are best for you and your family, but will highlight a few of the good ones now and then.

Organizing For Donations And Taxes

I mentioned we had a garage sale Saturday, but we tried something new for the leftovers.  We donate to CCA (local Christians in Community Action organization) several times a year, and write off the itemized donations when filing our tax return.  Our local donation center does not itemize our donations for us - instead they give us a small receipt with some basic categories of items checked off.  This can be a huge headache during tax season to try and remember what was donated (and frankly, it scares me to not have the exact list).

Saturday afternoon, I sat down with a notebook and wrote down each item that was being taken to the donation center.  It was all laid out in front of me from the garage sale, so was easy to do.

When we dropped off our donation, we had the center sign our list and then stapled that list to the receipt they gave us, and filed both away in our Tax Prep folder.  Next year, when we need to itemize this year’s donations (using It’s Deductible software), we’ll just refer to the already organized paperwork.

Wyatt’s Lemonade Stand Story

For those of you who ordered a lemonade stand from Sunkist and have not yet received it, thought I’d share a picture of ours after it was put together.

The Business Plan:  Wyatt sold 3 oz. Dixie cups of lemonade for $0.25, gave each customer a Starburst, and chose to donate proceeds to the National MS Society.

Marketing:  We had a garage sale the same day, and Wyatt’s stand was set up at the edge of the driveway so that potential customers would see him easily.  Some customers came directly to him, and others he approached with a salesman’s pitch - something different every time, but very convincing!

Revenue and Expenses:  Total lemonade sales for the day (8am-1pm) amounted to $9.50.  We donated $4.00 for lemons and Starbursts, and labor cost was $0.15 (only a 2-year old sister would work for this kind of money).  He’s keeping $4.15 to purchase lemons and candy for another day of business, so his total donation from Saturday is $5.20.

The stand came with a lemon peeler, plastic juicer, and recipes for different varieties of lemonade.  Sunkist’s site also has printable signs and sales worksheets.
